Swine Flu Update

We’ve been getting a lot of questions about the swine flu, and we want to offer some basic advice on how to prevent catching this contagious virus.

1. Cover your coughs and sneezes - use a tissue or your sleeve to cover your cough or sneeze; terwards throw away the tissue and wash your hands immediately.

2. Wash your hands frequently - use warm water and soap; scrub your hands for 20 seconds; rinse well and dry with a paper towel. Use the paper towel to shut off the faucet and open any doors. If soap and water is not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

3. Keep sick people away from healthy people - if you are sick, STAY HOME! You may also want to avoid crowds during flu season.

4. Clean commonly shared items often - Things to consider cleaning include phones, toys, light switches, remote controls, toilet handles, doorknobs, faucets and handles.

Your Neighborhood Pharmacy has a fully stocked flu survival section to help you get through this season. Come on in and check it out!

We will also be hosting a flu vaccination clinic for the seasonal flu, not the swine flu, in October. More details to come.

Until next time,
Stacey, Barbara, and Allyson

Family Comes to Visit and is Shamelessly Put to Work

Stacey’s wonderful family trekked down from New Jersey and Delaware to visit last weekend and helped out with last minute details. Bless them, it was not the funnest day ever.

Here is Stacey’s mom, Karen, and aunt, Margaret.

Aunt Joanne has the hammer

Uncle Steve, the ceiling tile king

And Uncle Matt, painter and handyman extraordinaire

The Counters are Finally Here!

Here are some pictures from the counter installation. Its not 100% complete, but the store is really starting to look like a pharmacy now.

Some of the counters were so big that they needed to detach one of our windows to get it into the space. Crazy!

First Thursday – A Bit Rainy But Definitely Successful

Well, we thought it was going to be rained out, but the storms cleared in time for the first First Thursday in Del Ray. Barbara and I were out distributing information about the pharmacy to the residents of Del Ray. We received lots of great feedback and there seemed to be excitement about the store. Lots of questions like “when are you opening?” :)

We even got a mention in a neighborhood blog (yay!)

Thank you so much to Val (our Senior VP of marketing, communications and all things pharmacy), Sarah (VP of fitness and chair of the NP Running Club) and Barbara’s dad for stopping by and talking up the pharmacy!
